Rick Santorum: Blah, Blah, Blah

Last week in Iowa, GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum generated controversy with comments he allegedly made in regards to black people and welfare. In the aftermath, he at first didn't deny he made the comment. However, he later did a 180 by saying he never made the statement.

Hmm... although it's not a clearly enunciated "black", I think that's what he said or at least planned on saying. It could be that the word came out somewhat jumbled because he realized it wasn't a smart thing to say. At least one person in the audience thinks Santorum was referring to blacks as well because you can hear them utter "right" shortly thereafter.

What do you think Rick Santorum said? If you don't think he said or intended to say "black", can you explain the definition of a "blah" person?

In the clip below, Ed Schultz discusses Santorum's alleged comments with Joan Walsh and Michael Eric Dyson:

OMG LOLOL!! These GOOPERS just don't know when to shut up! Of course he said black, and they just hate those new fangled video cameras that do not lie like they do!

Lol, Sue. That was John McCain's problem, those You Tubie things. You think they could learn from their mistakes, but if you never admit to being wrong, I guess you can't learn.

He said BLACK!

The odd thing--the thing I love, though, so I won't hate--is that, while he probably did mean to say black and while that is a rather bigoted view, it's a view shared by many on the opposite side of the spectrum. They just say it in a different way.

(I only bring this up due to some of the coverage I've seen with folks hammering Santorum for it; folks who, in my estimation, display that wonderful soft bigotry.)

Like the basketball = racist because only black people play basketball line. Or Newt saying Obama was a "food stamp President" being construed as racist because there must be only black people on assistance. Or a black person should be offended by something because they're black. On and on.

I'm in the minority around here when it comes to seeing those things as blatant bigotry. But such is life. I also find it difficult at times to spot the faults in the things I believe in.

But Santorum is a schmo, without the probably-is "black" drop. Colmes drilled the guy below the belt, which was colossally stupid seeing as there are many other things to hit him with.

If Santorum and Newt could only join up and retire to the same farm together, all would be well.

Sue: Can you imagine the level of honesty we'd see from them if video didn't exist?!

Mary: A lesson that Santorum apparently never learned is that when you're in a hole, stop digging. According to reports, he made it to Beijing in record time!

Josh: "If Santorum and Newt could only join up and retire to the same farm together, all would be well."

Agreed
