Victoria Jackson Voices Her Concerns About Communism to Bill O'Reilly

As readers of this blog may recall, I have occasionally done humor-based posts called "Sunday Funnies". Now today's post has its share of humor, but it's of the unintentional variety. Recently, Bill O'Reilly did an interview with actress/comedian Victoria Jackson in which she discussed her political evolution. If you're familiar with Ms. Jackson's actions over the last few years, you know what to expect. At any rate, here is what she gave us:

Her rantings are so obviously off the charts that it's pointless to waste time debunking them. In the aftermath of her appearance on The O'Reilly Factor, Ms. Jackson wrote an article on her website in which she discusses how her segment was deceptively edited by someone at Fox News. When I first watched the segment, I was puzzled by Ms. Jackson's reference to "them" when she was talking about communists. It appears she was referring to her children, but Fox News apparently edited this out. If this is true, Fox News made Ms. Jackson look like a paranoid lunatic for thinking there are communists in our government who are going to kill her for being a Christian. If we are to believe Ms. Jackson was the victim of deceptive editing, she's only a paranoid lunatic for thinking there are communists in our government who are going to kill her kids for being Christians. Ms. Jackson also mentions that her comments about books which prove President Obama is a communist were edited out as well. If that's true, the folks at the Factor may have done her a favor by leaving that nonsense on the cutting room floor.

We often hear conservatives (in particular, the ones at Fox) slam Hollywood for its liberalism. However, these same people cannot wait to line up and kiss the proverbial asses of Hollywood conservatives. Since Fox's raison d'etre is to promote the Republican/conservative brand, you'd think they would do a better job of featuring prominent and credible Hollywood conservatives. Although I disagree with their politics, I haven't heard anything outrageous from the likes of Kelsey Grammer and Gary Sinise. Why not invite them on more often? Maybe Fox has and their calls aren't being returned, I don't know. At any rate, how is Fox News advancing Republicanism/conservatism by giving the time of day to a washed up D-lister (at best) with zero credibility like Victoria Jackson?

CTFD: Right-wing Outrage Over the Casting of Jane Fonda As Nancy Reagan

According to an article in The Hollywood Reporter, two-time Oscar winner Jane Fonda will portray Nancy Reagan in the upcoming bio The Butler. The film is a biopic of Eugene Allen, a butler who served in the White House from 1952 to 1986. Because the film will cover a long time period, Fonda's role will be a supporting one.

The casting of a liberal icon to play the wife of the most popular conservative president in U.S. history has gotten some people on the right in an uproar. In various spots on the Internet, conservatives have voiced their outrage. Below are some of the comments left on Michelle Malkin's Twitter curation site Twitchy:

"What a Slap in the face to Nancy Reagan, I for one will not pay to see this Hollywood Trashing of a Great Lady How Sick."

"A Liberal playing a Conservative. How F***ed is that."

"Liberal activist???  You mean liberal traitor!  America's Tokyo Rose.  She should be in jail with her comrade kerry."

You can read more by going to the Twitchy link I included earlier.

All I can say is ctfd! Should performers only portray people who share their political beliefs?! It's called acting for a reason.

For those who are still upset over Fonda's July 1972 trip to Hanoi, she's already apologized more than once. Since Fonda can't hop into a customized DeLorean and change what she did 40 years ago, I don't know what else she can do.

If the right-wing really wants to get revenge on those evil liberals who have the audacity to besmirch the reputation of Nancy Reagan by casting Jane Fonda to play her, they should make their own film and cast either Janine Turner or our favorite "Politichick" Victoria Jackson in the role of Hillary Clinton. I'll bet those two could use the acting gig. Here's an idea! Turner and Jackson can go head-to-head in a real-life "Celebrity Deathmatch" to determine who gets the role. However, Jackson isn't allowed to pluck her prized ukelele or sing with that golden throat of hers because doing so would give her an unfair advantage.

The "PolitiChicks" Resurrect the Birther Conspiracy

The "PolitiChicks" l-r: Jennie Jones, Victoria Jackson, Jannique Stewart, and Ann-Marie Murrell

While visiting a conservative blog early last week, I learned of a new Internet talk show called "PolitiChicks". Headlined by former SNL-er and Tea Party darling Victoria Jackson and featuring Jennie Jones, Jannique Stewart and Ann-Marie Murrell, the show has been billed as a conservative alternative to The View.

The conservative blogger posted the 1st episode of "PolitiChicks" and it was even worse than I anticipated. In less than 15 minutes, the hosts managed to touch on practically every trait that currently passes for conservative "thought" in some circles (lies that an 8 year old could debunk, victimhood, projection, hypocrisy, etc.). You can judge for yourself here.

As bad as episode 1 of "PolitiChicks" was, I decided to watch further episodes because the program does have a "train wreck" appeal. In episode 2, the ladies delved into President Obama's citizenship:

At times, it's hard to tell if Victoria Jackson is serious or if she's pulling off a satirical mindfuck which would have made Andy Kaufman proud. When she proclaimed that the president's birth certificate contained a smiley face I was like, "Come on, she's got to be kidding!" Sadly, I don't think she is. Her "PolitiChicks" cohorts aren't any better. Outside of the lunatic fringe, there shouldn't be any question that President Obama was born in the United States.

Regardless of one's political viewpoint, I don't see how anyone can take "PolitiChicks" seriously. If conservative women feel they are underrepresented in the media, they have every right to make their voices heard. However, if "PolitiChicks" is the best they have to offer, it doesn't bode well for female conservatism.

Here is a clip from earlier this year in which President Obama has fun with the birther conspiracy.
