The "PolitiChicks" Resurrect the Birther Conspiracy

The "PolitiChicks" l-r: Jennie Jones, Victoria Jackson, Jannique Stewart, and Ann-Marie Murrell

While visiting a conservative blog early last week, I learned of a new Internet talk show called "PolitiChicks". Headlined by former SNL-er and Tea Party darling Victoria Jackson and featuring Jennie Jones, Jannique Stewart and Ann-Marie Murrell, the show has been billed as a conservative alternative to The View.

The conservative blogger posted the 1st episode of "PolitiChicks" and it was even worse than I anticipated. In less than 15 minutes, the hosts managed to touch on practically every trait that currently passes for conservative "thought" in some circles (lies that an 8 year old could debunk, victimhood, projection, hypocrisy, etc.). You can judge for yourself here.

As bad as episode 1 of "PolitiChicks" was, I decided to watch further episodes because the program does have a "train wreck" appeal. In episode 2, the ladies delved into President Obama's citizenship:

At times, it's hard to tell if Victoria Jackson is serious or if she's pulling off a satirical mindfuck which would have made Andy Kaufman proud. When she proclaimed that the president's birth certificate contained a smiley face I was like, "Come on, she's got to be kidding!" Sadly, I don't think she is. Her "PolitiChicks" cohorts aren't any better. Outside of the lunatic fringe, there shouldn't be any question that President Obama was born in the United States.

Regardless of one's political viewpoint, I don't see how anyone can take "PolitiChicks" seriously. If conservative women feel they are underrepresented in the media, they have every right to make their voices heard. However, if "PolitiChicks" is the best they have to offer, it doesn't bode well for female conservatism.

Here is a clip from earlier this year in which President Obama has fun with the birther conspiracy.

I don't see it as any better or worse than "The View".

Dmarks: Are you defending the brazen dishonesty demonstrated by the hosts of "PolitiChicks"? You may not like "The View", but can you provide specific examples of the Whoopi and co. trying to pass off outright lies and debunked conspiracy theories as the truth the way the PolitiChicks did?

Also, although "The View" leans left, they at least have Elisabeth on board as a conservative voice. Even Sherri Shepherd has espoused conservative views on the show at times. The PolitiChicks are under no obligation to have a liberal on their panel, but the one-sided nature of their show runs the risk of wearing thin quickly.

You are right. Years ago driving along the NJ Turnpike I saw a car in flames tipped over off the side of the road. It was surrounded by 1st responders and onlookers. As I slowed down I didn't see much other than that, but I think I was hoping to see a severed arm or something else just as gruesome. The Politichicks have the same appeal to me. Like a train wreck I want to stop and see the casualties.

And Herman Cain has bowed out of the race. Predictably, one of the left-wingers at Progreasive Erupts bashed him for being black and used the eyebrow-raising mildly racist word "Negro" for him as well.

I am mainly thinking of Joy Behar, who acts like a loud obnoxious drunk, and has a record of lying and bashing. Would you like a list of examples?

Yamba: I'm glad my comment made you chuckle... thanks for visiting.

Curious: I think the casualties will be anyone who takes the PolitiChicks seriously. Thankfully, those who fall in that camp appear to be in the minority. On all of the Politichicks' You Tube clips, the number of "dislike" votes far outnumber the "likes".

Dmarks: I checked out the comment you referred to over at Progressive Eruptions. Not only did the commenter not bash Cain for being black, there wasn't anything even mildly racist about what they said.

I'm glad you did come back to answer my original question to you. Although I often agree with Joy, I'm not going to deny that she can be overbearing and obnoxious. I'm well aware of instances in which Joy has bashed people. However, I do want to see your examples of how she's lied.

Who are they?

Last year or so, I found this YouTube clip of some guys sitting around in a circle literally worshiping dolphins.

These "chicks" are to politics what those bozos were to marine biology.

Everything has its weirdness, I suppose.

Now I'm off to find a right-wing blog with some obscure left-wing webisodes to get my balance for the day.

The person was being racist and bashing Cain for being black. They fabicrated racial attitudes and words and knowingly attributed it to others falsely. This person only revealed his/her own problems with Cain's skin color.

It's just like those on the Right who bash Obama with similar tricks like calling him a magic negro (Limbaugh... who had a weak attempt to blame others for this) or call Obama an affirmative action President. Like the racist leftists who bash Cain with the clumsy "the republicans only like him because he is Black", some on the right only believe that Obama got chosen and elected because he is Black.

Both sides, everyone, including OKG, should criticize Cain and Obama on their views and statements, not their skin color.

By the way, Shaw once presented a humorous piece by someone else that bashed the list of Republican candidates at the time. The humorist,. a leftist said Cain should not run because he is black. Hard to get more racist than that. I called Shaw on the uncritical presentation of this, and she stood by it. Not very funny humor, really.

And in typical fashion from such humor on the left, they find lots of things to bash Gingrich, Baumann, etc for, but for Cain it is only his skin color.

Back to the View and such. On the opposite end from the blowsy Behar is Whoopi, whom I've always admired. Here, Whoopi takes the 9/11 "truthers", who are as loony and clueless as the birthers, and puts them in their place.

Josh: With the exception of Victoria Jackson, I hadn't heard of any of these women previously. That's not a knock against them, I'm just saying they barely qualify for the D-list of conservative punditry.

It's a shame "PolitiChicks" is so embarrassingly awful because I think there's an audience for a serious show featuring four conservative women discussing the issues in an intelligent, rational manner. I hope Victoria and Co. keep at it because I love free entertainment. I view it as if it were an SNL skit.

Dmarks: We'll have to agree to disagree on whether or not CKg's remarks were racist. I couldn't find Shaw's post you referred to so if you have the link, I'd love to check it out. Thanks for the link to the clip from "The View". However, I was expecting you to give examples of how Joy Behar has lied on the show. Don't make me grow old waiting. :-)

dmarks said...

And here is one Behar lie.

Malcolm said...

Dmarks: Thanks for the link. I did some research and although Joy got her facts wrong, there's no definite proof she was trying to intentionally mislead her audience. I will fault her for not doing some research before she made the claim about when Reagan first said the word "AIDS". If she didn't make an on-air correction, she should have.

It appears the meme regarding the first time Reagan discussed AIDS may be referencing the first time he addressed the topic voluntarily. During the press conference referenced by Brent Bozell, Reagan used the word when asked about the disease by reporters, according to a transcript located June 8 by longtime AIDS activist and blogger Michael Petrelis.

Having said that, what Joy did doesn't even compare to Ann-Marie Murrell's comment that all terrorists are Muslim. You don't have to do any research to know that's not true.

dmarks said...

Too bad Behar did not do the research. And she's a supposed journalist. Or maybe she did (which is what one would expect) and lied about it.

Malcolm said...

Dmarks: Although I wouldn't call Joy a journalist in the traditional sense, she still should have done her research. I think your bias against her leads you to believe she'd deliberately lie about Reagan's comments on AIDS. To the best of my knowledge, she hasn't demonstrated a pattern of misleading her audience.

Now that's hilarious! The "I'm a Birther" song would be brilliant satire, but it makes an even better example of radical Right stupidity.

Behar is a comedienne, not a journalist. Goldberg is an entertainer, and the blonde is a game show celebrity. Walters is the journalist on the show. And she proves it as she often debunks the blather of her game show sidekick.

Anyone who gets seriously absorbed with what the View women, or especially the politichicks, cackle about needs to learn to read and get a life.

Malcolm said...

Dave Dubya: It's sad that there are right-wingers who take this crap seriously. It would be pointless for a sketch show like SNL to spoof "Politichicks". Nothing they came up with could be funnier than the source material!
