Now that it's become certain Mitt Romney will be the GOP's choice to face off against President Obama in the upcoming election, speculation has increased about who Romney will select as his running mate. Several names have been tossed around (see the accompanying poll in the sidebar). All of them have strengths and weaknesses. The question is, will Romney take the predictable route (for example, McDonnell or Portman) or will he attempt to move the needle by selecting a "game changer" along the lines of Jeb Bush or Nikki Haley? Let the vetting process begin!

I would love to see him run with Allen West or Santorum.
"I would love to see him run with Allen West or Santorum."
So would I! Even better? Choose Sarah Palin again! It worked so great the last time.
Sorry, no dice on Sarah Palin. Allen West is a better choice and I did catch our sarcasm, Shaw. Allen West doesn't put up with garbage, he would be awesome.
I agree, Leticia. I hope Mitt chooses Allen West. That would be awesome! West is such a measured, careful thinking politician who isn't out on the fringe at all. No siree! He's everything the Independents like in a man who would have to take over the presidency should Romney accidentally get strapped to the roof of Air Force One.
Here are some statesman-like statements made by Allen West that shows how capable he'd be in representing the best in this country (LOL!):
Here's a beauty that shows nothing but contempt for "equality of achievement." He doesn't support that:
"West said of liberals, 'Take your message of equality of achievement. … You can take it to Europe, you can take it to the bottom of the sea, you can take it to the North Pole, but get the hell out of the United States of America.' West later tried to walk back the statement, claiming he was only referring to 'the message' and not liberals themselves."
And here's another one that Goebbels would have been proud of:
"In a July 2011 post on the website Red Country, West wrote, 'I must confess, when I see anyone with an Obama 2012 bumper sticker, I recognize them as a threat to the gene pool.' ”
And this one illustrates his astonishing insight on how deficits and the national debt increase: It's uppity women's FAULT!
"West told a conservative women’s conference that liberal women 'have been neutering American men and bringing us to the point of this incredible weakness — to let them know that we are not going to have our men become subservient. That’s what we need you to do. Because if you don’t, then the debt will continue to grow…deficits will continue to grow.' ”
And people who want to peacefully "coexist" with other people are the REAL enemies of state!:
"West talked about the 'Coexist' movement, saying of their bumper stickers: “Every time I see one of those bumper stickers, I look at the person inside that is driving. Because that person represents something that would give away our country. Would give away who we are, our rights and freedoms and liberties because they are afraid to stand up and confront that which is the antithesis, anathema of who we are.' "
Oh yeah. This clown would make us all be proud to be Americans--that is if this country was nothing more than a gigantic "Comedy Central."
Leticia: Liberals would love to see Romney select West or Santorum as his running mate. As you can guess, this means we think they would be a disaster for the Romney ticket. Sadly for us libs, Romney won't pick either of them.
Shaw: Great job of outlining why West would be toxic to the Romney campaign. Predictably, right-wingers look upon West as some sort of hero due to the comments us his that you listed. They think he's a tough guy, but I'm not buying it. When Soledad O'Brien challenged him during an interview, he spun like a top and changed the subject. Oh yeah, that takes real guts!

I got your main point, Shaw: that West is just like a Nazi.
