It's official... Rush Limbaugh has been dropped by the Checketts group, the individuals attempting to purchase the St. Louis Rams of the NFL. It's funny how karma can quickly bite you in the ass. Less than 2 weeks ago, Limbaugh and scores of others on the right put on a disgusting display by laughing and cheering over Chicago's failed bid to land the 2016 Summer Olympics. Do you think Rush and the rest of them are laughing now?Update: Here is a clip from the talk show "The Young Turks" which includes segments from "The Rush Limbaugh Show". In it, he discusses being denied by the NFL and attempts to explain the 2007 "Bloods and Crips" comment he made about NFL players. As I said in the previous post about Limbaugh's bid to purchase the Rams, part of me hoped he did get rejected because it would show that being a race-baiting, sexist scumbag has its consequences. The Young Turks do an excellent job of elaborating on this point.

What goes around usually comes back around! I don't know why people always tend to forget that. Oh Well.
I've only heard Rush speak on a few occasions. I don't do much on zealotry from either side, so it's not my cup of tea.
However, a lot of what I hear people say about him turns out false. Or at least there's no record of it -- like slavery having its merits and the like. Maybe someone can provide me the info?
The NFL, being a private business, has the right to deny/muscle Rush and his private money. But it's more than a bit silly if anyone acts like Rush brings a bad image to the NFL.
I've heard the McNabb comments exclude him. But dog-fighting, murder, spousal abuse and illegal gun possession wouldn't -- or it least it hasn't in some players' cases. That's quite odd.
I've heard the drug addict excuse for Rush not being allowed in, yet Brett Favre, one of my favorite players ever, is a former addict and is championed by the league. Poster boy. Not to mention the many other drug users playing today.
If Rush-bashers want to revel in his failings, that's up to them. If you think what Rush puts across is hate speech, then he's provided more than enough ammunition to sway an opinion on it.
It's political, cultural, overtly PC, etc, and it's perfectly fine. The problem is with the EXTREMELY flawed NFL "image," which is a false premise as it is, only as good as its worst player, being cheapened or sullied by the likes of Rush.
The NFL Players Association is one of the most vile unions in the country. And this is coming from a GIGANTIC football fan!
They constantly fight to have players paid enormous amounts of money for a failing product. So much so that regular, middle-class families can barely afford to attend the games -- and if they do, they must contend with drunkards and violence that could erupt at any minute. They're not worried about this image but are worried about Rush?
They fight AGAINST players' suspensions for criminal activity. They choke up every penny and refuse to care for retired players--the men who built the league--like they should. Meanwhile, they lobby liberal political campaigns and help push their agendas. Ironic x a billion!! (Universal healthcare, anyone?)
Yeah, it's all good and well that Rush reaps what he's sewn, but the NFL has no horse high enough to ride in this case.
It is for the best. I heard Warren Sapp and other involved make statements to the fact that Limbaugh's involvement in the Ram's organization on any level would ultimately hurt the teams chances to procure certain free agents. Quite frankly African American players do not respect Limbaugh because of his past biased commentary.
I still not happy, The Checketts group all need to be rejected. How did they not know putting Rush on their team was not a good idea. I have to wonder were there minds are at.
Regina: Agreed. Sometimes karma can be instant (thank you Mr. Lennon) or it can take a little longer.
Josh: Since there is no proof (to the best of my knowledge) that Rush made the "slavery having its merits" or " godspeed James Earl Ray" quotes, I won't attribute them to him. As I said in my previous post about Rush trying to buy the Rams, it's unfortunate that people attributed quotes to him w/o any proof. Not only is it wrong, but he's said plenty of reprehensible things for which there is undeniable proof.
Not surprisingly, Rush has played the blame game. After his failed bid, he called the NFL an outpost of racism and liberalism. I'm not sure what Rush means by the racism tag, but the liberalism comment is nonsense to anyone who knows anything about the NFL. I find it mind boggling that anyone still takes this guy seriously.
Pjazzy: The outcry against Limbaugh really shows how many despise him. Even though his involvement with the Rams would have been limited, players still were repulsed by the prospect of having anything to do with him.
Clnmike: I don't see how the Checketts group couldn't have known. They obviously underestimated the level of distaste many have towards Rush.

I don't know much about Rush Limbaugh. Truthfully, I'm surprised a guy who offers thousands of hours of bold opinion annually for the past few decades doesn't have MORE on him -- if he's what some claim.
I do the best I can to ignore people whose shows/opinions/etc I'm not big on. Sometimes my ranting bone gets the best of me, though.
The one thing that strikes me as odd is the NFL-PA taking a "moral" stand. That's really a joke! And that particular aspect of the NFL is "liberal" in comparison to ownership.
Anything to do with it? I'm not sure. But what's-his-face, head of the PA, was a hardcore Obama campaign supporter and was quick to rally the anti-Rush support. So it wouldn't be that far off base to connect those particular dots.
But it would have happened to Rush in one form or another, eventually, more than likely, due to who he is -- and he's only himself to blame.
It's no secret that private business and corporate America is greatly susceptible to influence. Rush's money wasn't long enough for the headache.

That what I am saying they knew what kind of character he is yet they put him on. So that tells me they share the same mind set. It's no secret that the majority owners are Republican supporters so thats not surprising. But to get in bed with this dude speaks volume of your self.
And I remember Checketts from his days in New York, the dude is a back stabbing shark who has no standards, he is considered teflon because he always manages to deflect blame.
Josh: Maybe Rush's continuous bashing of President Obama did cause DeMaurice Smith to take action in blocking Rush's bid to buy the Rams. We'll likely never know. Whether or not it's true, Rush has already linked Obama to corrupting the process for NFL owners to vote on new owners. Of course, Rush didn't provide one single piece of evidence to prove his accusation.
Clnmike: "teflon" is a good word to describe Checketts. Although I didn't know anything about him before Rush's attempt to buy the Rams, Checketts did a good job of deflection. Even though he dropped Rush from the Checketts group, some are boycotting the NFL... stating that it was the NFL who turned down Rush.
