Rachel Maddow Busts Rush Limbaugh Over His Bain Conspiracy Rewrite

Tuesday on his radio program, Rush Limbaugh put forth his conspiracy theory that the release of the film The Dark Knight Rises was an orchestrated plot to undermine the Mitt Romney campaign. According to Rush, it's no coincidence the new Batman movie features a villain (Bane) with a name that sounds like the private equity firm which is causing Romney some problems (Bain Capital). Of course, that conspiracy theory falls apart when you consider two things: The character Bane was created back in the early 90s and the decision to use him as the villain in The Dark Knight Rises was made long before we knew Mitt Romney would be the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.

After being roundly mocked for his idiotic conspiracy, Rush attempted a rewrite on Wednesday. In addition to calling him out for it, Rachel Maddow also explains why it's important to keep an eye out on the nutty conspiracies coming from the right.

I've heard Limbaugh go on and on about it. If there's anything more pointless than his "points", it is Maddow getting caught in his trap and going on about it too.

And then i found the good photoshop mashup of Romney as Bain. I found it to be pretty funny.

Unfortunately, other news related to this Batman movie has since come up completely buried the Bain-Bane Limbaugh flap. I'd rather it had not.

When Limbaugh goes off on these loony tangents, they need to be called out. Rachel did a segment on his original conspiracy theory. She did a second one when Rush lied that he didn't come up with the conspiracy theory. I'd hardly call that "going on about it".

Limbaugh is a fear-monger.

If this were true, you wouldn't have so many harsh ham-handed regulations to reign the people in, as part of the demands of liberalism.

What an amazing whopper of a lie. Whatever the problems of all three of them, Nazism in any form at all isn't one. Mark Levin in particular happens to be Jewish and is an outspoken opponent of antisemitism, nazism, and fascism in its other forms.

Your comment is a perfect example of unintelligently using an insult without regard to its meaning. In this, you are no different from those who call Pres. Obama a Marxist Muslim.

A person who lies about Nazism like you do should be sentenced to community service cleaning toilets witha toothbrush at a Holocaust remembrance center.

Why President Obama will win, and why Romney will not.
President Obama took a big risk a year ago when he authorized the raid that killed Osama bin Laden. It paid off, accomplishing the mission central to American foreign policy since Sept. 11, 2001. He repeatedly pointed to that achievement in marking its anniversary early this month while reminding Americans that Romney, campaigning four years ago, said "it's not worth spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person." President Obama has also succeeded in ending the Iraq war and getting relations back on track with a broad swath of countries that considered the American invasion unjustified. And he has set a timetable for getting the U.S. out of what has become a quagmire in Afghanistan.
As far as the national unemployment rate being at 8.1or 8.2 percent, it's really ONLY slightly below what it was in February 2009 after Obama's first full month in office and considerably below the 10 percent peak it reached in October 2009. People are spending more. American automakers are posting big profits. The market for new homes is finally showing signs of life. And stock prices are back just about where they were before the recession began. There's still a long way to go, but most economists give Obama's stimulus spending a share of the credit for turning the corner, and the Federal Reserve is projecting joblessness will fall below 8 percent by year's end — still historically high, but moving in the right direction.
I will vote for Obama everyday of the week to avoid one of those other rightwing/big business nut-jobs from getting the White House.
Now lets look at the facts.
1. Obama is the incumbent and the incumbent always has the advantage..
2. The economy is improving and this will help Obama
3. Americans like Obama and they don't like Romney.
4. Romney was very unpopular as the Governor of Mass..
5. Romney is so unpopular that a right wing third party could split the vote
6. Foreign policy won't help the Republicans
7. Foreign policy will help Obama
8. Obama is presidential
9. The Republican Party is unpopular
10. The Republican Party is unpopular and it
looks like four more years of President Obama. Get used to it!
President Obama will win re-election and it probably will not be as close as many people believe. The GOP is about who they hate, who they can demonize, about what social programs they can defund, this party resembles more a death cult than a major political party. The only question that I have is will Hillary Clinton leave her job as Secretary in Obama;s 2nd term to run for president in 2016.
As for Rush Limbaugh, I think he is a lying piece of crap, and who but a racist would believe anything from from a talking butthole, drug-addict.

Sorry everyone for my delayed responses.

Question Man: Thanks for stopping by. Although I am not a fan of Limbaugh, Hannity, or Levin, I wouldn't term them neo-Nazis. As for them being racists, I think Rush is and I'm not sure about Levin because I don't listen to him enough. I won't deem Hannity a racist. However, he does resort to one of the oldest tricks in the right-wing playbook: having black guests do his dirty work for him. For example:

dmarks: This is one of those rare instances where you and I agree. The next time you see a right-wing blogger/commenter call President Obama a Marxist Muslim or worse, I hope you call them out for it. :-)

EzzZee: Thanks for commenting. I hope you are right about President Obama getting a second term. With the voter ID laws Republican lawmakers have put into place, I'm afraid the race is going to be too close for comfort.

dmarks: President Obama admitted to using drugs in the past. However, that does not make him a drug addict. On the other hand, Limbaugh has admitted to being one.

An Unapologetic Black Liberal: Thanks for visiting. Wanda is hilarious! I think the Oxy has affected Rush over the years because I don't remember him being as unhinged as he has been over the last few years. Then again, maybe his behavior has something to do with the fact that an African-American is the POTUS.

"Then again, maybe his behavior has something to do with the fact that an African-American is the POTUS."

Only if one subscribes to the sort of reverse racism that posits that a black President should be above criticism.

Anyone who thinks that Limbaugh has it in for Obama because he is black has no memory of how Limbaugh attached President Clinton and his wife from all angles.

"dmarks: President Obama admitted to using drugs in the past. However, that does not make him a drug addict"

Abusing cocaine is in all cases a felony. Obama admitted to committing these felonies. As drug abuse is rather stupid as it is, it does beg the question of whether or not he was addicted. If what the President says is true, he should have served some hard time.

Malcolm said...

dmarks: That's just supposition on your part. Whether or not President Obama was addicted to drugs is irrelevant... especially when it comes to the topic of this post.

Malcolm said...

dmarks: I never said nor did I imply that President Obama is above criticism. I've criticized him myself and have no issue with anyone criticizing him as long is they are doing it in a fair and objective manner. I recall Limbaugh's attacks on the Clintons back in the day. However, if anyone doesn't think some of his attacks against President Obama aren't race-based, they aren't paying attention.

dmarks said...

Some of them are. They are one of the reason I dislike Limbaugh. But the fact remains that if you remove the racial attacks on Obama from Limbaugh, his show would hardly change, as he has it in for Obama almost entirely for the same reasons of blind partisanship that he had it in for the Clintons over.

What do you know?! It's one of those rare instances when you and I agree on something politically.
