Quotable Quote of the Month

What does it take for Republicans to take off the flag pin and say, 'I am just too embarrassed to be on this team'?".- Bill Maher

Conservatives Post the Funniest Things!

For the most part, the posts at Diversity Ink are of a serious nature. However, I like to lighten things up here whenever possible. As you may know, I read political blogs (regardless of whether or not I agree with the blogger's point of view). One of my favorites is Teresamerica. Although I disagree with pretty much everything Teresa writes, she does provide me with a healthy amount of unintentional humor. While checking out Teresa's blog early Saturday morning, I came across her latest post in which she provides "proof" that violence, rage and racism exists on The Left by posting clips from the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear" (which took place on 10/30/10). The photo above is a screenshot of Teresa's post.  Please note the title. Was that a Freudian slip?!  Just to be clear, I have seen no evidence of rage and violence at Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor Rally".  As for ignorance, religious bigotry and solid proof that we live in the Misinformation Age, that's another story:

I was considering notifying Teresa of her minor (but funny) error. However, I think I'll wait to see how long it takes Teresa or any of her loyal readers to catch this slip. Tick tock... tick tock...

THAT is funny Malcolm! Teresa is a trip, I don't know how you read her crap, but I guess we all need a good laugh every now and then. You must have busted a gut over that post title! LOL!!

I've played in this lady's yard a couple of times. She's openly, fiercely ignorant, and intensely gullible. If a Democrat tried to tell her that the sky was blue, she'd start arguing it was green. But if Glenn Beck said unicorns would be dancing in the streets, she'd go out to watch.

Well, OK, maybe I went too far. I don't think she leaves the house much...

(By the way, make sure your antivirus is up-to-date when you go see her. Her site just pinged my firewall: "The website at teresamerica.blogspot.com contains elements from the site fotki.com.au.tc, which appears to host malware")

As Nameless Cynic has said, I too get a malware warning when visiting Teresa's site, consequently I do not go there anymore.

This is unfortunate because Teresa was hilarious to read-- in a morbid, watching-hobos-slip-on-the-ice-in-February kinda way. Her critical thinking skills are deficient and she brings prejudice and social conservatism to it's ridiculous extreme-- reductio ad absurdam. If I didn't know better I'd think she was a parody site, ala patriotboy.blogspot.com

I love the Freudian slip screen shot. (Damn, I miss her site.) Thanks Malcolm

Sue: Teresa is one of a kind. Although I still read it, I don't comment on Teresa's blog much these days. Because much of what she writes doesn't make much sense, I've learned that it's too time consuming to debunk all the BS.

Nameless Cynic: Your assessment of Teresa cracked me up. It's funny, but sadly true. Sometimes it's fun to debate her just to see how she'll try to wiggle her way out when I call her on her lies, misinformation, and hypocrisy.

Thanks for the tip about the malware on Teresa's blog. Although my antivirus wasn't up to date on my home PC, I was able to clean up the minor issues caused by Teresa's blog. Just to be safe, I'll only get my regular dose of comedy by reading Teresa's blog from my work PC.

Tony: There are times when I'll read one of Teresa's posts and wonder, "This has to be satire because no one could be that far gone". Since it's Teresa, I quickly realize that she's serious.

Since my anti-virus software on my work PC is up-to-date, I will continue checking out Teresa on a regular basis. If I come across something funny that I think you'll enjoy, I'll be happy to forward you the text of her post via email because I'd hate for you to miss out on the hilarity.

To all: Here's an update: A conservative (Just Another Conservative Girl) who reads my blog commented on Teresa's post to let her know that I noticed the error. JACG said the following to Teresa:

Just a fyi:

Malcolm pointed out the error you made in the title.

Teresa responded with: What error? The videos clearly shows peoples' rage, violence and some racism at the rally.

I laughed before I decided to help Teresa out. I told her to read the title of her post closely. If she still doesn't get it, that's on her.

Malcom, I gave up on trying to reason with Teresa a long time ago, she's the female version of "the malcontent."

His blog is excruciatingly hilarious if you can bear to read gross stupidity and galloping rage.

He's really the epitome of that is horrible about the rightwingers.

Shaw: Comparing Teresa and Malcontent is fairly accurate. Often the nonsense quotient contained in one post is so high, you practically have to write a post in the comments section debunking all the BS. A prime example is the rebuttal Sue asked me to write to swat down the nonsense that Malcontent wrote about the CBC and minority institutions in general.

Although they are more than welcome to come here and offer their opinions on the posts at DI, I am pretty much done commenting on conservative blogs. Their warped logic, failure to deal in facts, hypocrisy, hostility to anyone who dares offer an opposing viewpoint, etc. is too much to take.

I had to go to Teresa’s blog to see her title. She must have fixed it or I missed the “slip.” Would love to know what her original title said. Enjoyed reading your comments, though. They remind me of this quote from John Stuart Mill: “I didn’t say all conserviatives are stupid: I said all stupid people are conservatives.” BJ

B.J.: Teresa fixed the post title after I gave her a heads up. The mistake she made (incorrectly using the name of Glenn Beck's rally) is in the screen shot I included with this post.

There is an ironic postscript to this post. Another conservative blogger with whom I've had exchanges told me that she will no longer answer any comments I leave on her blog. Her reason: She feels that my post on Teresa's minor (but funny) mistake was mean, cruel, and uncalled for. I pointed out to her that she's being hypocritical due to the fact that she lampoons liberals/Democrats on a weekly basis. Her reaction is just one of the many reasons why I've decided not to comment on conservative blogs anymore.

I never knew it was John Stuart Mill who made that quote. Thanks for the info. With so much nuttiness going on, I have been hearing Mills' quote a lot lately.

Thanks, Malcolm. I suspected she had the wrong rally name. As you know, I cannot see graphics (the screen shot). So, I went to her blog and found her amended title. Poor woman. Sounds like a real ditz. Sorry you lost your conservative commenter. They are so myppic and ill-informed, I don’t bother reading any conservative blogs. I’m a stickler for sources and documentation, which they never seem to provide. A learned Canadian friend sent the quote, so I trust the attribution is correct. Hope you are having a good weekend. BJ: My early New Year's resolution is to avoid commenting on conservative blogs. For the most part, the ones I've dealt with are allergic to facts, hypocritical, and one-dimensional in their thinking. If they want to come to Diversity Ink and join in on any discussions, they are welcome. However, I can't afford to waste time dealing with people who have no interest in facts and logic.
